2019 Lent Goals: Eat, live, and run

So, today being Ash Wednesday, does anyone care to share any of their Lent goals?

I know a few friends who have decided to give up sugar, social media, and meat. Me, on the other hand, am not sure what to give up just yet, but I am going to pray about it. Something that I have thought about was actually adding something instead of giving something up.

A pastor once said during a sermon that if one is tired of giving up and has a desire to grow spiritually, maybe adding something prayerfully is be a better alternative.

For example, dedicating more time to God every day, reading the Bible daily, praying, keeping a prayer journal, or  memorizing scripture.

Now that I am training for my 18th marathon, this alternative seems to be more fitting than giving up something. You see, I began writing this Faithful Trainer blog after God spoke to me during a mission trip. It was the reason I started training and writing again in the first place. Maybe He’s leading me back to the start in many ways.

Please join me this Lent season in training for the spiritual race that really matters – found in Hebrews 12:1-3.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Hebrews‬ ‭12:1-3‬ ‭NIV‬‬
