Day 94: Run for God: Starting a New Chapter

It was just four years ago (October 6, 2011) that I asked God to show me mighty things and to create in me a new heart (Psalms 51:10) during a medical mission trip in Honduras. He revealed much more than I could ever imagine, including asking me to take many steps out of my comfort zone and run for Him, share my faith, and begin a ministry  in Warner Robins, GA to encourage others to run for Him too through the Run for God ministry.

If you notice, the caption of this picture below reads, “Let the Praises Ring.” Although this is surprising to me to see this today, it was all in God’s perfect plan. “Let the Praises Ring” was not just a beginning to our daily song before our day began in Honduras, but also the name of the race God revealed to me for the first annual race ministry in Warner Robins. More importantly, it is how God wants us to glorify Him while being His hands and feet into the lost world-our communities. We are to praise Him while proclaiming His salvation day after day!

Psalm 96:1-3 says, “Sing to the Lord a new song, sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise His name, proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples.”

In May of this year, God had another plan for our family. Our family moved to Jacksonville, FL. Today God has continued to bless the Run for God ministry nationally, in Warner Robins, has enlarged my heart greatly and has a plan. He has taught me a lot over the last four years in my physical and spiritual running. In the physical race, the feet run, but in the spiritual race, the heart runs. Psalm 119:32 says, “I will run when You shall enlarge my heart.”

Since our move, God has pressed on my heart to continue to lead this incredible ministry and has opened many doors. It is the mission of Run for God to prepare individuals to be better witnesses for Christ mentally, physically, and spiritually.  It’s my heart’s desire to reach out and embrace runners in this community and provide encouragement, love, support and training at all levels throughout this race – physically and spiritually.

It is my prayer that my fellow Run for God alumni, community and family will join me in prayer in this mission in reaching out into the Jacksonville community to share the love of Christ and be His hands and feet.

Running for Him,

Tanna Friday
