It was just three years ago (October 6, 2011) that I asked God to show me mighty things and to create in me a new heart (Psalms 51:10) during a medical mission trip in Honduras. He revealed much more than I could ever imagine, including asking me to take many steps out of my comfort zone and run for Him, share my faith, and begin a ministry here in WR to encourage others to run for Him too through Run for God.
If you notice the caption of this picture below reads, “Let the Praises Ring.” Although this is surprising to me to see this caption today, it was all in God’s perfect plan. “Let the Praises Ring” was not just a beginning to our day of clinics in Honduras, the name of the race God revealed to me for our first annual race ministry here in WR, but more importantly, it is how God wants us to glorify Him while being His hands and feet into the lost world-our communities. We are to praise Him while proclaiming His salvation day after day!
Psalm 96:1-3 says, “Sing to the Lord a new song, sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise His name, proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples.”
This year God has continued to bless this Run for God ministry nationally, here in Warner Robins and has enlarged my heart greatly. He has taught me a lot over the last few years in my physical and spiritual running. In the physical race, the feet run, but in the spiritual race, the heart runs. Psalm 119:32 says, “I will run when You shall enlarge my heart.”
This year, God has pressed on my heart, not only to continue to lead this incredible ministry by preparing individuals to be better witnesses for Christ mentally, physically, and spiritually but, in addition, adding another program to the ministry to illustrate Christ’s love by assisting individuals in the Run for God program who are need with scholarships for equipment and supplies, which are essential to accomplishing their goals within the program.
It’s my heart’s desire to reach out and embrace our brothers and sisters of Christ who are in need and provide encouragement, love, and support at all levels in throughout this race – physically and spiritually. It is my prayer that my fellow alumni and community will join me in blessing this mission in reaching out into our community to share the love of Christ and be His hands and feet.
